Liverpool Dedication

Here is a picture of a dedication to "Eleanor Rigby." It was sculpted by a rock singer and London native named Tommy Steele. The Liverpool Echo newspaper commissioned this statue, and it was unveiled on the 3rd of December of the year 1982. It is dedicated (the top, right hand corner of the sculpture) to
"All the lonely people."

This makes me want to go to Liverpool! Well, for other reasons aside from obviously wanting to go to England/Europe anyways! lol I cannot believe they made a dedication to a song about a lady that doesn't even exists! I wonder what the think on the bench next to the lady is???

  2. Ever since I because a fan of the Beatles, I have wanted to visit Liverpool. I did not know, though, that this statue even existed before I started this project! Even though I am a huge fan of this band, and particularly this song, it just goes to show you how a little research can go a long way. (:

Jesse: In reply to your comment, I do not know what is next to "Eleanor Rigby" on the bench. My best educated guess would be a newspaper, perhaps left there from the person who was sitting there before.

Wow, there's even a statue made of this song!! Maybe I'll listen to the Beatles more often :) My best friend has been encouraging me to listen to them!

That isn't how I pictured her initially, but this statue is a cool visual display for the song!
